So we are three Medical Students- Aleksa, Barbara & Karolina, nice to meet you!
Aleksa
As many young people after graduation, i didn't really know what to do in my life, but i had an opportunity to start medical studies. So, not great vacation , but wise parents who persuaded me to this one true direction with sufficient prestige and, above all, possibility to find job, what was for an average girl- for sure- the best option. The first year passed without major fireworks - classes as general as biophysics, biology , didn't really allow anyone to expand interests. The real breakthrough for me was joining IFMSA, association of medical students from around the world. I finally discovered that I can somehow combine my passion - travelling with medicine. And medicine became also a passion.
I decided to start writing this blog to show how many things related to humans surrounds us , how to combine passions and interests with a choice of path in life. My goal is to get to know new cultures, praising medicine and its successes, life in harmony with nature, and the real goal - to spread awareness about the dangers of HIV & AIDS.
On the blog you will find practical information about traveling ( tropical diseases , vaccine), book reviews, descriptions of the most interesting places where I have been .
A few simple facts:
I'm studying at the Medical University of Silesia in Zabrze, Poland.
I am a second year student .
In the IFMSA- Poland LC Katowice. I coordinate project "Medics for Africa"
"Medicine defines us", I wrote with a little bit of a sneer. I have a lot of other interests , and all of them I want to combine ! I love horse riding, pole dancing, also bachata , I love old movies and retro style.
Barbara
Already studied medicine once- didn't fell through. Maybe it would, if I hadn't resigned after few weeks- stupid youth. But thanks to that, this blog is written by young BSc Eng., who studies medicine. Welcome.
I love travelling, but finances don't allow for much craziness. But what for do we finish medicine?
In the middle of third year or my technical studies I made a decision: I am coming back and this time I am not going back. I did as I said. Now I am second year medical student in Zabrze, Poland.
Considering the fact, that most of my friends from medicine were already on higher years, my start was pretty easy: I already got books, copies and the most important- practical tips! Taking care of foreign medical students, who are every year coming to Poland for exchanges, made me even more sure that medicine was right choice: different cultures, travels, medicine- something perfect for me!
Aleksa alreasy described our unfortunate first year (except anatomy classes ofc), but after that year my first "own" exchange came! Latvia. Now noone will kick me out from Medicine. My motto is: much (sightseeing) for as less money as possible!
Does medicine define me? Certainly more than some people I know. I hope it will stay that way till the end of studies and life (Hope the life will take longer time than study!).
Karolina
For now a bit shy, but she will come through!
